Tontoki at MidPlaza Jakarta

I heard so many good reviews of this new Japanese restaurant specializing in pork dishes named Tontoki at the basement in MidPlaza Building, Central Jakarta so I went there together with my friends last week.

The restaurant has a unique exterior of the Japanese's house village in Edo period which is small, dark and low ceiling. When I got there, the restaurant was packed. Luckily my friend already made a reservation but still we were seated at the "outside" area.  Since one of my friends is a smoker, he was quite happy that there's no restriction to smoke in this restaurant.

Omori Hakusai Salad - Rp. 48.000
I like this fresh salad with Anchovy but my friends didn't really like it because it was too sour for their taste buds.

Yaki Gyoza - Rp. 48.000
Ordinary Japanese dumpling with pork filling.

Tontoki Don - Rp. 42.000
The pork belly was pretty good marinated and tender.

Hone Tsuki BBQ - Rp. 68.000
We asked the waiter to cut this BBQ Pork Ribs into pieces. When the waiter got difficulties to cut it, we knew that the ribs were not that tender thus it's more about the sweet sour peppery sauce that we could enjoy of this dish.

Hire Katsu - Rp. 68.000
My friend ordered this deep fried Pork tenderloin cutlet based on people's recommendation who had tried this dish  but I guess our expectation was too high.

Fresh Orange Hai - Rp. 48.000
Hot Ocha - Rp. 15.000 (refill)
