Paradise Inn, Plaza Indonesia

There is a new Chinese restaurant "Paradise Inn" at Plaza Indonesia. 

 I like the warm ambiance of contemporary Orient Chinese decor.

Paradise Inn serves herbal and floral teas as well as fruit tisanes.

Lavender, Rosemary, Dried Longan & Chrysanthemum - Rp. 25.000 per person

Lychee Mojito Ice Tea - Rp. 23.000, Rosy Vanili Ice Tea - Rp. 23.000
So nice to smell the fragrant aroma of each tea.

Marinated Kelly Fish with Vnaigrette - Rp. 48.000
It's pretty crunchy, sweet, salty and tangy 

 Century Egg served with Pickled Ginger - Rp. 28.000
the pickled ginger was too strong for my liking.

 Sliced Tea-smoked Duck Teochew Style - Rp. 68.000
Lovely slices of smoked duck.

 Crisp-fried Seafood Roll in Wasabi Mayo Sauce - Rp. 48.000
The cherry on the top added the sweetness of the seafood roll.

Teochew Style Crisp-fried Prawn Roll - Rp. 48.000
Another tasty appetizer.

 Double-boiled Pig Stomach w/ spare Ribs & White Pepper - Rp. 108.000 per pot
Love the tender pork belly and the broth was so delicious. Really!!! 

Imperial pork ribs - Rp. 48.000 (S), Rp. 68.000 (M)
Crisply fried with right balance of the sweet and salty flavors. 

 Coffee Pork Ribs  - Rp. 48.000 (S), Rp. 68.000 (M)
It tasted almost the same as the Imperial pork ribs except the sweetness was quite overwhelmed.

 Poached Chinese Spinach with Egg trio and Minced Pork in superior stock - Rp.58.000
Tasted alright but I think it's too watery.

Sautéed Scallops and Asparagus with Spicy Homemade Sauce - Rp. 88.000
 Fresh crunchy asparagus but the sauce was a bit spicy for me.

 Sautéed Venison with Ginger and Spring OnionsRp. 88.000 (S), Rp. 108.000 (M)
The meat was moist with perfect seasoning.

Steamed Pomfret Fish with Black Bean and Garlic Sauce - Rp. 108.000
Garlic sauce for steamed fish, never failed! Like the adding of black bean.

Chinese style Pan-fried Beef Fillet - Rp. 118.000 (S), Rp. 138.000 (M)
I totally enjoyed eating this soft tender beef fillet.

 Stewed pork belly served with lotus bun - Rp. 15.000 per piece
The pork belly in the lotus bun was really good.

My favorite among the 5 cold desserts is the Chilled Mango Sago. I couldn't really enjoy the Chilled lemongrass jelly with lemonade because of the pungent flavor of lemongrass.

Durian pancake - Rp. 35.000
Never enough with only one piece of it.

Overall, I enjoyed almost all the food being served that made each mouthful satisfied and also the friendly service.

Tioti Sweets

I just received a box of macarons from Tioti Sweets. Tioti Sweets was created by three Indonesian foodies and the name Tioti came up from the phrase "Trick or treat".

A box contains of 6 macarons - Rp. 45.000 
Additional delivery cost (for Jabodetabek) - Rp. 20.000

Customers can create their own mix of flavor in one box. The current available flavors so far are chocolate, green tea, strawberry, vanilla cookies, mango and tiramisu. There will be still more flavors to come. The macarons' texture is like crust on the outside and soft on the inside, easily melted in my mouth :)

Bengawan - Keraton at The Plaza, Jakarta

Keraton at The Plaza is a new luxury collection hotel in Jakarta. The hotel is connected directly to the Plaza Indonesia shopping mall. It has a signature restaurant named  Bengawan which provides five-star Indonesian dining experience and featuring a customized menu of Indonesian local flavors.

The Bengawan restaurant is located on the seventh floor with views of Jakarta.



The filling of the sushi was good but too bad, some of the sushi had mushy rice. My guess the hands of the chef were too wet while preparing the sushi.

I ordered the Pesto. For me, it was a bit bland. The pesto sauce need stronger flavors especially the basil and fresh garlic.


Try the sorbet, it tasted really good!

These are cocktails with Indonesian local ingredients. They all tasted unique. My favorite is the refreshing  Jamu Sour.
